A data lake is not a game model

4 min 04.08.2026

A lakehouse stores what you put in it. A game model is the algorithms the staff wrote — and the chain that proves a number came from them.

Teamworks, SAP Sports One and Databricks are the right tools for running a club: ops, records, a warehouse. None of them is a football philosophy. A lake without a tree is a very expensive folder.

The game model is the set of algorithms the coaches and analysts put on the platform. The lake can receive the results. It cannot tell you, years later, which definition of a press trigger produced the number that green-lit a transfer — unless every manipulation was stamped on the way in.

That is the difference between an audit of *who opened the dashboard* and an audit of *how the number was made*. Only the second holds up when the decision was worth millions, or when the file belongs to a minor.
