Your metric should outlive the data vendor

A useful number is one you still own when the feed that produced it is replaced. That only works if the metric lives on a chain you can replay.

Event providers change licences. Tracking vendors get acquired. The useful test of a club metric is not how pretty it looks on this season’s dashboard — it is whether you can still compute it, and still explain it, on next season’s feed.
That is why the definition has to live in a tree the club authored, not in a vendor’s catalogue. And it is why every incoming data point, and every manipulation on the way to the number, has to be cryptographically stamped. If the chain breaks when you swap Opta for StatsBomb, you never owned the metric. You rented a report.
A prompt that “remembers club DNA” does not outlive the vendor. A hash-linked ledger of the algorithm you wrote does.
